The Priceless Legitimate Daughter

Su Longyi, the only daughter of the Su family, was showered with boundless affection. Despite her absentmindedness, she fell in love with her eldest brother and clung to him from childhood, keeping him from marrying well into his thirties. When she was sixteen, an accident, an imperial decree, and an arranged marriage put an end to her hopes and broke her heart. The affection they had shared as family turned to cruelty; the love she had once received turned to rejection. After a drunken night of passion, she was given three choices: a cup of poison, a dagger, or a strip of white silk. Whose heart had she stolen, and whose heart had she lost? What would become of her own heart? Who stands above imperial power, and who can overturn the world? Her past was a mystery. Who was she, really? Within the palace's ninefold walls, in the Hall of Golden Chimes, they could only gaze at each other from afar. Scene One “Eldest Brother, Fourth Brother is already married. Why aren't you?” Six-year-old Su Longyi nestled in her eldest brother's arms and asked curiously. “Who do you think scared all those young ladies away?” Su Longjue asked helplessly. “Those common, vulgar girls aren't even good enough for Third Brother.” Su Longyi looked disgusted. Su Longjue was speechless. Those girls were all daughters of princes and nobles. Scene Two “Eldest Brother, if you say the word, I'll have the courage to defy the imperial decree and stand against everyone in the world who opposes us. Even if it means being shattered to pieces and damned for all eternity, I'd gladly accept it.” “Why wasn't it you, with your hidden malice, who was pushed off the cliff?” Su Longjue's cruel words slipped from his thin lips. Scene Three “Allow me to congratulate Master Su on losing himself in the arms of a beautiful woman.” Su Longyi picked up a golden cup with her slender fingers, a radiant smile on her face. Su Longjue accepted the poisoned wine. A wicked smile curved his lips as he gazed at her with deep affection. “May I have your heart, and may we never part until our hair turns white.” She watched him drink the poisoned wine with a smile, and spent the rest of her life in sorrow. When she let go, he refused to.
