Lin Meng is a white-collar worker, or, as people say these days, a corporate elite: a white-collar professional, a backbone of the company, and a capable talent. She's skilled in taekwondo and other martial arts, a superb cook, beautiful, and blessed with a great figure. She embodies what it means to be elegant in public, capable in the kitchen, able to fend off lechers, and tough enough to take on the other woman. But...
None of that matters now. All that matters is that she dozed off on a bus and woke up in some unknown world.
That doesn't matter either. As a white-collar worker, she can survive anywhere. So what if she's in a different era? People are still alive, aren't they? The earth still spins, and the sun still rises. As long as she hasn't left the planet, it's no big deal. But...
Other people transmigrate and end up as lucky heroines. How come she transmigrated into a pregnant woman whose husband is a fool?
That doesn't matter either. She's always been a tough woman and never planned to rely on a man. So what if there's a baby in her belly? So what if her husband is a fool? She was a tough girl growing up, and she's still tough now. What's the big deal about having two more people to look after? It's just two more pairs of chopsticks at the table. No problem...
But can someone tell her what's going on with all these inexplicable relatives?
Oh, it turns out she isn't unfortunate after all. She's a legitimate daughter. She was just a little foolish, which is how things got this bad. Her relatives only sneer at her because they're afraid she'll come to her senses one day and take everything back.
Damn it, she's already in this state and they're still coming after her. Fine, then she'll take it all back. She's never been a good person, and she's even less inclined to be one now. Tit for tat is only fair~
She can take on awful relatives, farm and open shops, and tease her handsome son and foolish husband. Life is pretty good. Everything she couldn't achieve in the modern world has come true here, and Lin Meng has nothing to complain about.
Just as her life is charging ahead toward happiness, someone suddenly arrives from the capital, claiming that her foolish husband is the emperor's eldest son and they must return to the palace. Just like that, she goes from being a small business owner to a prince's consort, and her handsome son becomes a prince's son.
That's fine too. As long as her husband is considerate and her son is well behaved, it doesn't matter what their identities or where they live. But what's with all the women surrounding her husband? And what's with all the men surrounding her?
Oh, so they're after her husband's power and her money? Sorry, but her son loves his father and his mother, and has no plans to trade either of them in. So whoever gets close to her gets beaten up. After all, her martial arts are decent, and she has plenty of money. She could probably kill a lot of people just by throwing money at them, couldn't she?
*Here's a fun little scene:
When she first arrives in this unfamiliar world, even tough Lin Meng can't help swearing. What the hell is going on?
A dilapidated thatched hut. No, no, calling it dilapidated would be too generous. This place is practically bare walls and nothing else. There are only four walls, and the roof has only half survived, so it can hardly be called a roof at all. Maybe it would be better without one when it rains. That's bad enough, but what's with her belly? And what's with the fool in front of her, staring at her blankly and calling her his wife?
Her eldest aunt says, “Lin Meng, you're almost due, aren't you? It must be hard to get around. Why not let us manage the shop your grandmother left you?”
Her second uncle says, “Lin Meng, now that you've got another baby coming, it must be hard for one woman to care for a fool and a child. Why not let us adopt your eldest boy and look after him?”
Adopt your sister! Lin Meng can't hold back her anger. Is this really a wealthy merchant family? Why is every single one of them so shameless? They want her shop, fine, but now they want her handsome son too? Do they think she's a pushover just because she hasn't shown her claws?
Her handsome eldest son comes over, holding the well-behaved little girl's hand. Looking at her two children, Lin Meng's heart melts. But the words out of her handsome son's mouth make her furious. “Mother, Mother, hurry and save Father! He's about to be eaten alive by a bunch of demons...”
Fine! Lin Meng rolls up her sleeves. It seems I've been too nice...
