The Cold Wife of the Heartless Third Young Master

A New Bride

A: Third Young Madam has had such a hard life! She spends every night alone, and Third Young Master hardly ever even steps into her room.

B: The young lady Third Young Master brought home last time is the one he truly loves!

C: Oh, what will Third Young Madam do from now on? They’ve been married for days, and Third Young Master still refuses to consummate the marriage. If he brings home a few more concubines, goodness! She might not be able to hold on to her position as the mistress of the household!

D: Exactly! The other day, she was so upset over all this that she came down with a high fever and was bedridden!

She met their words with a cold stare. Was he really worth all that worry and heartache? She would show them whether she could hold on to her position as mistress of the household!

Making a Name for Herself

Her father-in-law asked, “Yannan, what do you think we should do about this?”

She replied, “Punish them! Without rules, there can be no order!”

Second Madam was shocked. “I’m your Second Madam! Your father’s second concubine!”

She answered firmly, “The emperor is subject to the same laws as the common people!”

Everyone held their breath, afraid of provoking Third Young Madam’s authority.

Lovers’ Words

He said, “Being able to walk hand in hand with you at night is the greatest happiness.”

She said, “Wouldn’t you be happier with your confidante?”

He said, “Do you think of yourself as a daughter-in-law of the Zhao family, or as my wife, Zhao Pinji?”

She said, “Do you care whether I think of myself as a daughter-in-law of the Zhao family or as your wife?”

He said, “My devotion belongs to you alone!”

She said, “The past is behind us. If you betray me again, we’ll be strangers!”

He clasped her hand tightly and said, “I never will!”
