The Lord's Wife

Warhorses and gleaming weapons, with tenderness amid the Warring States! He said, “When the realm is unified, we’ll divide the land between us. You’ll be the undefeated general of a foreign nation!” He said, “If I become emperor, you will be my empress. You’ll be my wife under a written agreement!” When the realm was finally unified and he became emperor, all he gave her was a lonely grave a thousand miles away. But what she gave him was a new vision of a unified realm! A magnificent map of a world in chaos, with twelve nations coexisting; Smoke signals rose on every horizon and war drums thundered. How many soldiers and innocent people had to bleed to pave the way to the pinnacle of power? How many names of warlords were buried when a king’s grand ambition was fulfilled and the age of chaos came to an end? A hero’s tears, a woman’s love, together in life and side by side in death!
