A Dream Left Behind in the Vast Sea

To get back at the woman who betrayed him, Leng Yan decides to marry her half-sister, who shares the same father but has a different mother. After forcing her to give her sister to him in marriage, he is stunned to discover that, despite being sisters in name, the two women are worlds apart in personality. The older sister is refined and elegant, while the younger one has a fiery temper and a mouth full of curses. She’s not the least bit demure, and has no idea of the propriety expected of a woman. She even walks around with men with her arm over their shoulders. As the two of them match wits, Leng Yan changes his opinion of her. Before long, he finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. Bai Xiaoyu is a hopeless romantic whose intelligence drops below zero when it comes to love, but she’s also a mathematical genius. She’s the rebellious second daughter of the Bai family in Hangzhou, and a patriot who risks her life on the front lines for her country and people. When she’s sent home on a mission, she never expects to discover that her father and sister have married her off without her knowledge. A twist of fate makes her the wife of Leng Er Ye, the feared ruler of Shanghai’s Qinglong Society, known as the Cold-Faced Asura. She decides to stay by Leng Yan’s side so she can use the Qinglong Society’s influence in Shanghai. But as they spend day after day together, she falls in love with this overbearing, cold-hearted man. One day, she accidentally overhears him talking with her sister. Hiding behind the door, she learns that she has always been nothing more than a pawn in his plan to get revenge on her sister. She walks away without a word, without even listening to his explanation. She knows herself: if that man tried to explain or asked her to stay, she would forgive him and remain by his side. Leng Yan never imagined that one misunderstanding and her departure would become their final farewell. Two months later, after securing the support of Shanghai’s financial world for her, he can’t wait to go to Xi’an to find her. But instead, he receives the devastating news that she has died for her country. He rushes to the front lines, only to find that she has left him nothing but the vengeance of a body lost beyond recovery.
