A Marriage Without Love

She gave him all her attention and tried every possible tactic. She thought that if she loved him and tried hard enough, he would come to love her and see how wonderful she was.

But after two years of marriage, his former girlfriend came back, and he chose her without hesitation.

He said, “Qiao Man, I love her.”

What an ironic thing to say. When she heard it, she laughed, laughing until her heart felt as though it would break.

Her two years of humble devotion were utterly erased by his cold words, without a trace left behind.

Divorce? Fine. She agreed.

Not to let him go, but to get revenge.

On the day they divorced, she walked into the wedding hall arm in arm with her childhood sweetheart.

She had to get ahead of him in everything. She only wanted to prove, “Yan Bo, I can live just fine without you.”

After a year of revenge, she was battered and bruised, and so was he. She hated him because she loved him deeply.

Mo Li had always known that she married him to get revenge, because she loved Yan Bo so very much.

So he could pretend not to know, pretend not to care, and pretend not to hear her call another man’s name in her sleep.

A year later, when she was exhausted, she stood before him and said, “I’m sorry, Mo Li. I love him.”

It was exactly what Yan Bo had told her years ago.

But Mo Li was not her. He only said quietly, “All right. Go back to him.”

No hatred, no resentment. He understood that she had married him without love, nothing more.
