Excerpt One
A moment later, Leng Yan gathered his inner strength and used the Thousand-Mile Voice Transmission to call, “Li Mo.”
Leng Yan lifted the corners of his mouth in a faint smile.
Hearing this, Leng Sang froze, then could not help laughing. “How despicable. What a low trick.”
Leng Yan put the flute at his waist and shrugged indifferently.
A man dressed in silver, his face hidden behind a mask, appeared beside Leng Yan. Everyone drew in a sharp breath. Where had this man come from? A mysterious figure, appearing and disappearing without a trace... They only knew that he had suddenly appeared next to Leng Yan. Judging by his outfit and the mask on his face, could he be the one from the rumors, Leng Yan’s right-hand man, the “Faceless Death God”? So his name was Li Mo. They said he struck with lethal cruelty, killing with a single palm strike from within fifty paces. His martial arts were unfathomably deep and uncanny, no less formidable than Leng Yan’s. Yet no one knew why he willingly submitted to Leng Yan and obeyed his every command.
“Take her away,” Leng Yan ordered Li Mo, his expression blank.
“Yes.” Li Mo cupped his hands and fixed his gaze on Leng Sang. Under his stare, Leng Sang felt her scalp go numb and her whole body grow uncomfortable.
“You... Don’t come any closer.” Leng Sang’s arms trembled as she clung to the tree, her face turning pale.
Excerpt Two
“Brother Zhuluo, was I wrong?”
“Miao’er.” Zhuluo had no answer to Leng Miao’s question.
The person standing before Zhuluo was none other than Leng Miao. Other than her black pupils having turned blue, nothing else had changed. Her beauty could topple kingdoms, and with blue eyes, she was even more captivating.
Leng Miao gave Zhuluo a smile, ethereal and elusive. Looking at her, Zhuluo suddenly felt his heart being wrenched with unbearable pain. Leng Miao’s face was pale, her lips bloodless. Raindrops trickled from the strands of hair on her forehead, sliding down her cheeks one by one. Her clothes were already soaked through by the downpour.
Leng Miao looked so pitiful that anyone would want to comfort her. Zhuluo opened his arms and held her close. Through their clothes, he felt a warmth against his chest. Leng Miao reached up and touched the corner of her eye. A clear droplet rested on her fingertip, and she stared at it in confusion. Was this the tear people spoke of? So she could cry after all. Was that really water flowing from her eyes?
Excerpt Three
“So this is how you felt back then, too?” Li Mo murmured. This feeling was harder to bear than learning of his elder brother’s death. Leng Miao’s words came back to him: “Watching the person you love die in your arms while you’re powerless to do anything, that heartbreak and helplessness are enough to eat away at your soul.”
Li Mo could use medicine powder to stop Leng Sang, but he was powerless against Leng Xin.
Leng Xin’s words echoed in Li Mo’s mind. “Big Brother has a Life-Extending Pearl in his body, too. Li Mo, don’t blame yourself too much for Big Brother’s death. Perhaps this is fate. Miao’er chose to yield to fate, and Big Brother chose to yield to fate as well.”
Excerpt Four
“No!” Leng Sang shouted with all her might.
“Sang’er, listen to your big brother...”
“No! I don’t want to. I don’t want to listen...”
