My Cheating Ex-Husband

My marriage to him was built on neither profit nor love. At least, he didn't love me. He and I were never meant to cross paths. My friends said I was lucky, living out a Cinderella story. But in my marriage, I couldn't see a single thing that had anything to do with happiness, even though I tried my hardest to be a good wife and daughter-in-law. Like every time he got drunk, when the name he shouted was that of another woman. But it wasn't until that woman actually appeared before me that I realized why he had chosen me. Love could be fake, marriage could be fake, and years of affection meant nothing against that woman's return. As I watched the mistress brazenly make a scene in our home, our wedding photo lay shattered on the floor. A mocking smile appeared at the corner of my mouth, while I fought to hold back the ache in my eyes. “You shameless woman! How dare you cling to your place as Mrs. Geng? Don't you know he doesn't want you?” The anger on the mistress's face did nothing to hide her beauty. My mocking smile widened. I placed a hand on my belly and turned to look at my husband, smoking in the living room. For the first time, I realized that he could be gentle, at least with this unreasonable mistress... No! Perhaps, in that woman's eyes, I was the mistress... Scene One I stood frozen as I watched him lift the little boy onto his shoulders, smiling at another woman. I laughed, wildly, but my heart had gone numb and no longer hurt. So this is what happens when the pain becomes unbearable: it stops hurting. He said he didn't like children because they were noisy. He said he didn't like going shopping with the whole family because it was a hassle. But now, those had all been nothing but lies to fob me off. It turned out that the family he wanted had nothing to do with me... Scene Two Years later, we met again at his son's birthday party. He looked at my heavily pregnant belly, pointed to his chest, and said that it hurt here, hurt so much... I smiled and took another man's hand. Time passed, and everything changed. When some things disappear, they are gone for good...
