A Marriage in Fury

Tonight is our first wedding anniversary, and I want to surprise my husband. But through the half-closed bedroom door, I see him with another woman. “Hao Xuan, why did you marry her?” the woman murmurs, leaning alluringly into his arms. “It was for my father’s will, of course.” With a tenderness I had never seen before, he gently wipes the tears from the corner of her eye. “When are you going to divorce her?” she presses. “Once... she’s had the baby!” My hands instinctively move to my slightly rounded belly. So in this marriage, I’m not the only one being used as a pawn. Even the child I haven’t given birth to is nothing but a bargaining chip to him. I thought he might have had some real feelings for me, but I never imagined that from beginning to end, this had all been a one-woman show. Tears falling, I turn and run! Scene One: A handsome foreign man points at Shen Haoxuan and asks curiously, “Who’s he?” “My ex-husband,” I reply, glancing at Shen Haoxuan as I do. His face instantly turns livid. “What’s an ex-husband?” The handsome foreigner clearly can’t grasp such a profound term. “Something I threw away!” Scene Two: “Come home with me!” Panic and anguish, unlike anything I had ever seen in his eyes, fill his face as he holds me so tightly it feels like he might crush me. I firmly push him away. Some wounds can be forgiven, but some things, once done, can never be undone. I shake off the pain of yesterday and believe that my future can still be beautiful!
