I lean toward historical danmei with a more understated narrative style. The protagonists' appeal comes from the writing, not just their character setup. Please recommend similar stories in the comments, and check out my book-hunting list too.

This book is also very good-looking, and the characters are not stereotyped. "Our body and name are ruined, but the eternal flow of rivers will not be ruined." There is a long comment that really poked me. Here is an excerpt: A life full of twists and turns will only be recorded in the annals of history with only a few strokes. No one knows his love and struggles, and no one remembers that he once cuddled up with others in the middle of the night. But someone should remember his life unforgettably, so this book appeared.
