Every Court Official Is Part of the Harem

In the third year after ascending the throne, Wen Yan transmigrated into an ancient dynasty as a new emperor who had been stripped of all authority. With neither power nor influence, he could only watch as the powerful ministers demoted and beat the people around him.

Wen Yan thought of Wang Mang and Dong Zhuo.

No, he had to save himself!

But none of the civil officials or military generals were people he could appoint.

So...

Wen Yan turned his attention to his harem.

Interference in politics by the harem was, after all, a time-honored tradition.

You, the despised son of a concubine, would you like to be My Virtuous Consort? The kind who could become Grand Secretary in the future?

You, the wronged general's youngest son, would you like to be My Consort of Virtue? The kind who could become supreme commander of all the armies in the land?

You, the down-on-his-luck accountant, would you like to be My Good Consort? The kind who could take charge of the Ministry of Revenue in the future?

You, the dirt-poor groom, would you like to be My Consort of Grace? The kind who could reform the Ministry of Works in the future?

Wen Yan kept gathering talented people into his harem, gradually driving the powerful ministers out of court.

In the end, Wen Yan, holding all power in his hands, sat high upon the dragon throne and looked down at his capable consorts.

"My beloved ministers, whatever official post you want, I will grant it to you!"

He, Wen Yan, was not the sort of emperor who would slaughter the hound after the hare had been caught!

And so, Wen Yan's capable consorts gazed at him with burning eyes.

"Your Majesty, I want to be empress!"

Although the premise makes it sound like a harem story, it is actually one-on-one, with no other romantic storylines for either of them. There is another reason for the ending of the blurb.

A lighthearted story. The institutions and setting are all made up, with no attempt at historical accuracy.

Theme: May the world be peaceful and everyone live and work in contentment.
