Legend has it that there is a great gate in this world, made entirely of bronze and towering to the clouds. Its surface bears the bones of ancient ferocious beasts and the souls of powerful emperors. It connects the worlds of yin and yang and can defy the fickleness of life and death.
A hermit once glimpsed the Ghost Gate thrown wide at the hour when yin energy was strongest. Blue-green smoke filled the sky, and someone emerged from within. Their long hair flowed like a waterfall, their brows and eyes were like the moon. Yin energy swirled around them without harming them in the slightest, while thousands of demons knelt and bowed behind them.

They say that Hengzhou University, the nation's top institution of higher learning, has neither a department heartthrob nor a campus heartthrob.
That's because no student or staff member can compare with the security guard at the east gate: Chen Beiyu, a brilliant young man who retired the moment he graduated at the age of twenty-three.
An outstanding law graduate from the previous year, Chen Beiyu neither pursued postgraduate studies nor took the civil service exam. He didn't join the courts or a law firm. The first thing he did after walking out of school with his suitcase was turn around and interview for a security guard position at Hengzhou University.
Years later, Chen Beiyu's name would be known from north to south, and everyone would know of his heroic deeds in slaying demons and monsters.
Someone finally dared to ask: What made him give up becoming a legal professional and choose to be a security guard instead?
The current guardian of the Ghost Gate, Chen Beiyu, replied calmly: "It's in my field."
The Ghost Gate is a gate, and the university's east gate is a gate. How is that not in my field?
