The Villainess Is Determined to Stay Alive

[A Desperate Farm Girl Begging to Stay Alive vs. A Devoted Young General]

Lin Xiu is reborn as the villainess in a farming novel, and she is the sort who is already living on borrowed time.

In the original story, she not only deliberately tears apart the novel's star-crossed leads, but also persuades the heroine's father to sell his daughter for wealth and status. Before long, the male lead, newly crowned top scholar, will return to the village, rescue the drugged heroine, and expose Lin Xiu's true nature.

Run. She has to run.

Just as Lin Xiu prepares to sneak away under cover of night, the System suddenly appears.

"Main quest: follow the original plot and give the male lead a dose of aphrodisiac."

"Side quest: rescue the badly wounded second male lead."

Following the original plot means giving him an aphrodisiac, which means getting stabbed to death by the male lead. Only an idiot would do that, right?

As for the devoted second male lead, Gu Nanfeng, he is a young general who is invincible on the battlefield. After being sabotaged by the enemy and falling off a cliff, he is rescued by the heroine and falls completely in love with her.

But what does any of that have to do with Lin Xiu? She rolls her eyes. If she saves the second male lead just so he can become the heroine's lovesick puppy, and then works herself to the bone helping the leads fall in love, doesn't that make her the heroine's golden finger?

"No way. Do you think I'm an idiot?" Lin Xiu takes off running.

But the System directly takes control of her body and brings Gu Nanfeng home.

Lin Xiu: I curse your whole family. I cannot believe this!

Sorry, but she's about to give up and do the bare minimum. Farming is her true calling.

"Host, please add the aphrodisiac."

Lin Xiu: No time. The sun is blazing, and my vegetables are waiting to be watered.

"Host, please..."

Lin Xiu: I love farming. Nobody can stop me!

In the end, even the System gets tired. To complete the final plot point, it uses up all its energy and takes control of Lin Xiu's body to put the aphrodisiac in the water.

"I'm sorry. I just love you too much." Having done all this, the System leaves, satisfied.

All that remains are Lin Xiu and a completely bewildered Gu Nanfeng.

Lin Xiu: If I told you that person just now wasn't me, would you believe me?

Gu Nanfeng's face turns red. "I love you too, Xiu Xiu, but I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you today..." His meaning is clear.

Wait, who are you, brother? Weren't you supposed to be the devoted second male lead?

Lin Xiu still hasn't figured it out by the time he pins her down.
