[All in all, it's still a pretty satisfying story (pondering)]
Reborn into a second life, Rong Xian is born crown prince. But having read the script, he knows his father is a king destined to lose his country. After his father's death, the crown prince will flee from place to place as a lucky charm for the restoration of the realm, until the loyal general protecting him drags him over a cliff, ending their lives for their country.
He refuses. Even if he has to die... No, with an opening like this, he absolutely won't just die without a fight!
The good news is that Rong Xian is only eight years old. The kingdom won't fall for another ten years, so he thinks it over and decides to fight for survival against all odds.
He saves the loyal ministers his scumbag father wants to kill, protects the generals his father plans to dismiss, and vetoes the (idiotic) policies his father wants to implement. He keeps working under that pressure for ten years, finally reaching the part where the enemy army invades.
But even with every contingency planned, Rong Xian never imagined his scumbag father would stab him in the back at this moment. A decade's worth of pent-up rage erupts all at once, and his father lures Rong Xian into a trap set by the enemy's god of war.
Rong Xian is captured. In the script, this god of war is the one who eventually drives him to his death.
He did everything he could, but nothing worked. Just as he's preparing to die with honor, the god of war calls off the fighting, takes him captive, and brings him back to his own stronghold.

Rong Xian ultimately changes his destined death because his hard work earns him a reputation for integrity and character. It seems his sworn enemy has taken a liking to him, treating him to delicious food and drink because he thinks the country would be much more fun if Rong Xian were alive.
He hears that after he left, his scumbag father was overthrown by a coalition of furious ministers, and nearly all the younger brothers who conspired against him were killed.
Now in enemy territory, Rong Xian spends his days listening to his sworn enemy report the news from home. How brutal! So brutal! Does this count as losing the country too?
Until one day, his sworn enemy tells him, "They've come to take you home."
His gaze turns intense. "They all look like they want to eat you alive. I think you'll have to vouch for me. We're so close now, we could share a pair of pants."
Rong Xian: ...
Sworn enemy: I've packed my bags too. Take me with you to meet your family. Let's keep our countries bound together forever. How about we hold the wedding banquet in both our countries?
*The whole book is devoted to adoring the crown prince. Some people adore him until they're moved to tears, while others can't have him and go completely deranged. The protagonist comes first. All the villains are in the blurb; everyone else is part of his fervent fan club.
*Sharp-tongued stubborn guy nearly destroys his lover's country / a back-and-forth pursuit that takes about a whole book / hates how high the moon hangs, so he just carries the moon home and hides it away. (Both powerful / possessive / sweet / from the shou's perspective, his sworn enemy is completely insane / from the gong's perspective, my wife is the most beautiful in the world)
Theme: Never abandon your true self, your principles, or your homeland.
