Lin Chiyu's first fifteen years were filled with liquor bottles, gambling debts, canes, and an abyss. The bloodshed and deaths of his family tore his world apart. Only his younger sister and Fu Guyuan remained a ray of light in his life.
When his last close relative was taken from him again, he clung to Fu Guyuan, his only lifeline, at the edge of despair. But fate bared its fangs once more: Fu Guyuan lost his memory in a car accident.
With near-obsessive devotion, Lin Chiyu waited by his side, carving his name into the blank slate of Fu Guyuan's memories. “I’ll make you remember me!”
On the ruins of oblivion, love is reborn in fire.
At eighteen, the glory of his competition gold medal was cold and heavy, embodying every shadow and hard-won edge.
Thorns grow in the dark, and scars forge a crown.
Now, he and Fu Guyuan share this supreme glory, won through blood and vows.
Character names: “A caged bird longs for its old forest; a fish in a pond yearns for its deep waters.”, Tao Yuanming, “Returning to the Fields, Part One”
I changed “fish” to “yu” in Lin Chiyu's name because, in the end, he is the only one left. Perhaps it means “left over” or “surplus.” The whole poem expresses a longing for freedom, and I feel that Xiao Fu and Xiao Chi are the same.
