A Twist of Fate [Marriage Before Love]

Wang Zhiyi had originally set her heart on the second son of the Feng family: fair-skinned, refined, gentle, and polite. In the end, though, she married the eldest son.

He was tall, with a face black as charcoal and a pair of cold, menacing eyes that no one dared look straight into. In ancient times, he'd have been a bandit from the mountains. During the few times they met before the wedding, she never saw him smile once. Wang Zhiyi suspected he simply didn't know how.

The one betrothed to Feng Shen had been the eldest daughter of the Wang family, but in the end he married their youngest: fair, delicate, and fond of both crying and laughing. The slightest touch could bring a downpour to her eyes. Feng Shen suspected she might be made of water.

On their wedding night, drunk and thinking about the miserable married life ahead of her, Wang Zhiyi couldn't help soaking half a pillowcase with her tears.

Feng Shen sat beside her and asked, "Can you stop crying?"

Wang Zhiyi buried her face in the pillow and sobbed, "No." He'd been so fierce to her just now. He was a stinking rock that could never be warmed.

She cried for half the night, and Feng Shen stayed with her for half the night.

In the second half of the night, Wang Zhiyi bit down on her tear-soaked pillowcase and asked between sobs, "Can you..."

Before she could finish, Feng Shen let out a heavy breath and interrupted her in a hoarse voice. "No."

It was too late to ask him for anything now. She was the one who had provoked him first.
