How a Shoddy Troupe Climbed to the Top

Thanks for asking. I just awakened as a cannon-fodder ex-husband gong who is about to lose his head.

A sword rests against my neck. The protagonist gong holding it has veins bulging across his face.

Shan Jue feels wronged, but doesn't even dare dodge.

The protagonist shou was the one who said they'd spend their lives together. Now he's silent as the dead.

Shan Jue has had enough. That very night, he packs his things and hurries away. Unfortunately, he forgets that he has no sense of direction. Fleeing in the dark, he ends up in a bandit's stronghold.

A man in a fur cloak strides toward him from nearby, carrying a huge blade sharp enough to cleave iron. His blood runs cold.

Luckily, the bandit chief is aloof but generous. He gives Shan Jue a place to stay and takes care of everything for him. Shan Jue thinks he might as well lie flat.

But fate has other plans. Two groups of soldiers arrive one after another at the foot of the mountain, both looking for a man named Shan Jue. One group was sent by the emperor, and is led by the relentless protagonist gong. The other is the Great General Who Guards the Nation, the protagonist shou he can't seem to break things off with.

Shan Jue keeps his cool, then turns to the bandit chief, who's helping him feed the rabbits. "Chief, forget the rabbits. Becoming emperor is more important!"

Reader's guide:

1. Set in a fictional world.

2. Shan Jue is the gong, a transmigrated beauty from humble origins. The main shou is the bandit chief.
