A Dream of Rivers and Mountains

Lin Mengshu faints at an exhibition of ancient paintings and wakes up as a young lady in ancient times. Her maids are dressing her in a bright red wedding gown embroidered with a four-clawed python.

She suddenly remembers: This is the novel she stayed up all night reading. The Fourth Prince stages a rebellion soon after getting married.

Marrying him would doom her entire clan.

"I'm running away!" Lin Mengshu kicks open the door, only to find the courtyard blocked by guards.

A cold voice rings out: "Where does the princess consort wish to go?"

The Fourth Prince, Li Yi, stands beneath the corridor in a black python robe, studying her.

"I heard Miss Lin was gentle and virtuous. It seems the rumors were wrong?"

Lin Mengshu thinks fast. "Your Highness, I was going to prepare a wedding surprise for you!"

"Oh?" He slowly approaches. "Such as?"

Lin Mengshu blurts out, "Such as helping you stage a successful rebellion?"
