The Legend of Lily of the Valley

The emperor had no heirs, so noble young ladies were sought throughout the nation.

Because of her low birth and the fact that she was two years older than the emperor, Linglan was not chosen as a consort. Instead, she became a palace lady.

Of course, life in the palace meant she could no longer use her maiden name, so she was given the new name Linglan.

Linglan's daily work was feeding the fish in eighteen huge vats, reading, painting in her spare time, and drinking tea. This carefree life was like a dream, until a butterfly flapped its wings.
