When a divorced editor who believes "love is a lie" meets a wheelchair-bound architect who swears he "won't fall in love until he can stand again"

When Qiao Xi stood at the door of apartment 801 with her suitcase,
she heard glass shatter inside apartment 802 across the hall.
"Do you need help?" She regretted knocking the moment the door opened
The man in the wheelchair bent to pick up the shards of glass on the floor. At the sound, he looked up sharply. His left hand hung in the air, and his right still held half a bottle of whiskey.
"Do people these days enjoy watching disabled people make fools of themselves?" His smile was like a dull knife.
Qiao Xi stared at his bleeding fingers. "Do people these days use alcohol to disinfect wounds?"
A three-legged cat suddenly darted out from behind the wheelchair and dirtied her beige trench coat.

On Friday, whiskey appeared at her door, along with a note:
"For your coat. From the cripple in 802."
Qiao Xi returned the favor with lemon pie, deliberately keeping her note businesslike:
"The insomniac in 801 needs some peace and quiet."
The noise stopped that night, but she stared at the ceiling until dawn.

When Qiao Xi went over to visit, the three-legged cat scratched her until she bled.
As she tossed the bloodstained alcohol pad into the trash, the culprit was crouched on the armrest of the wheelchair, licking its paw.
"Her name is Wutiao," the man suddenly said.
"She only has three legs."
"When I found her, I bet she wouldn't last three days." He turned his wheelchair away from her. "Now she owes me five lives."

When Wutiao tore up the package her ex-husband had sent,
Fang Lin used tweezers to remove shards of glass from the cat. "Your ex has terrible taste."
Qiao Xi crushed a biscuit. "How did you know it was from him?"
Fang Lin chuckled as he held the cat by the scruff. "She only bites things that are false and insincere."
The male lead has a sharp tongue, and the female lead gives as good as she gets. Their bickering as a pair of sparring rivals turns into true feelings.
Later, the male lead recovers enough to stand, and the two of them connect their apartments.
Wutiao has a litter of kittens~
