The Taste Paradox

A spring night, a light drizzle.

The guest with a reservation was a full hour and a half late.

Wan Ce hadn't wanted to serve her,

but the haughty young lady had actually pouted and said

she'd left home early, only to get held up catching her lover cheating.

Who would believe that? Wan Ce turned and went back to the kitchen.

Still, not wanting to waste the ingredients and wine, he prepared a whole table of food.

She paid three times the bill and left an extra tip for the server.

"Wait."

Liang Qianyu heard the deep voice and turned around, tipsy.

A handsome man in a black apron walked over.

Behind him, the private restaurant was closing, its lights going out one by one.

Yet he seemed to shine brighter and brighter. A delicious, talented charmer had appeared.

"Heaven's compensation has finally arrived," Liang Qianyu murmured.

When he told her she didn't need to pay extra, Liang Qianyu smiled, her eyes curving.

"Even if you put it on my tab, I still want to eat."

Eat the meal, eat the food, eat you.

Waiter's inner thoughts: Honestly, the spicy gossip about her fiance getting involved with her cousin was already plenty. Thanks for the generous tip, rich lady!

"Mr. Wan, why does eating too many sweets leave a bitter taste?"

"Because Miss Liang eats too much, too rich, and too poorly."

Liang Qianyu feigned surprise and displeasure. "But I've never eaten anything second-rate."

"Everything but me is second-rate."
