After Li Ao dies saving someone, he transmigrates to Britain in a parallel world during the Industrial Revolution.
He becomes a baby born in a workhouse, and even turns out to be the older brother of Oliver, the protagonist of the classic novel Oliver Twist?
Since he's here, he might as well make the best of it. Li Ao struggles to survive through this wild and untamed era alongside the little ones from the orphanage, but unexpectedly meets a detective named Sherlock and discovers that this world is not what it seems... It turns out to be a world with magic!?
Just as Li Ao finally senses magic, his System comes online. The mission it issues is to establish schools and spread the study of magic. The reason? In a few decades, the amount of magic in the air will increase dramatically, causing animals and plants to mutate. If most humans lack magic and cannot fight the magical beasts, humanity will face extinction!?
Li Ao lets out a long sigh. He just wants to live a quiet life in this world. Why does trouble keep coming his way?

Before you read:
1. This is my own take on the world, with heavily altered crossovers of classic novels. It's a low-magic setting with a messy timeline, so please don't nitpick the details.
2. Apologies for any out-of-character portrayals.
3. A crossover of Oliver Twist, Jane Eyre, and Sherlock Holmes.
Theme: Good deeds are rewarded
