My new all-female xianxia novel is currently updating. Take a look if you're interested!
A month after the former chief of the Second Division of Mingcheng's Police Bureau was transferred, the division finally got a new chief. But the new chief was neither of the two candidates everyone had expected. Instead, she was an outsider parachuted in from Pingcheng.
Everyone immediately began asking around: just who was this new chief, Shen Saizhao?
"I heard the new chief is one of the most promising people of Pingcheng's new generation."
"No matter how capable she is, she's still from Pingcheng."
"Actually, she's not from Pingcheng. She's the daughter of He Yu, the former warlord."
"Officer He's daughter? Then how did she end up in Pingcheng?"
"They say there was something suspicious about Officer He's death."
"So why has she come back now?"
"Why worry about all that? The new chief is from Mingcheng, so of course she should return to Mingcheng. Better than getting a real outsider."
Cheng Xintang is also curious about the rumored Shen Saizhao.
After spending time together a few times, Cheng Xintang realizes Shen Saizhao is a bit of a stubborn talker.
Shen Saizhao helps her rescue an injured little fox, but rejects her thanks. "I just don't want a 'missing teenager' case happening in my jurisdiction."
She clearly cares that Cheng Xintang didn't recognize her, yet denies they've met when Cheng Xintang asks. "Didn't Miss Cheng say she'd remember me if we'd met before?"
But Shen Saizhao is also softhearted.
She stays with Cheng Xintang when she's feeling down, and encourages her when she shares her thoughts.
She says, "Cheng Xintang, I hope your new newspaper goes well."
Shen Saizhao also helps when she runs into trouble and comforts her when she's afraid.
She says, "Cheng Xintang, don't be afraid. It's me."
Cheng Xintang thinks she likes Shen Saizhao.
Shen Saizhao knew from the first time she met Cheng Xintang that she had ideals, but wasn't naive.
Faced with the injustices of the world, Cheng Xintang tries hard to change things.
She says, "I hope more people will understand that we have more choices than simply following society's rules down a path with no way out."
But she also says, "I don't expect everyone to have that kind of courage."
Cheng Xintang is also perceptive and frank.
When there's a misunderstanding, she asks directly to clear it up. And when she senses Shen Saizhao's feelings, she asks outright, "Shen Saizhao, you like me too, don't you?"
Shen Saizhao can't deny it: she likes Cheng Xintang.
Shen Saizhao doesn't believe in the idea that good deeds are rewarded. Otherwise, why would such a good person as He Yu have died that way?
But Cheng Xintang tells her that kindness isn't wrong. People are.
"The person we need to help isn't just one individual, and the conditions we're creating aren't for one person alone. They're for everyone facing hardship."
"If what we do makes a difference to even one person, that's reward enough."
Shen Saizhao admits that Cheng Xintang is right.
More and more women can follow the path laid by those who came before them and go even farther. That is the reward for doing good.
The road they light for others stretches farther still.
Reader's Guide:
1. Set in an alternate Republic of China era, or think of it as a parallel timeline without war. No real historical figures appear.
2. All characters are assumed to be women, and their sexual orientation is also assumed to be lesbian.
3. If you enjoy it, please leave lots of comments. I check them often!

Like it, keep it up, and look forward to new stories [make me healthy]
The opening feels like the opening of a movie or TV series. The dialogues are described in detail, and it can be seen that there are many stories about to unfold.
