She looked for a chance to leave, but he stopped her.

Gu Yichen told her that she had been forced into the demonic path, and that a different, brighter road was now open to her. He asked her to stay.

He said there was a place for her among all the people under heaven.

He said she had a deep affinity with the Immortal Dao, and he would help her become an immortal.

Jiang Yunyu laughed for a long time after hearing him.

For some reason, she wanted to defile this man, cold and moonlike, to make him fall to the ground with his clothes and hair in disarray and reveal his most primitive, ugly self.

But that day, desire overwhelmed him. With her foot pinning him down, he was utterly humiliated, yet instead of getting angry, he shed a tear for her.

He truly was what people said: the spotless, flawless moon of Xianzhou.

She wavered and believed his words.

And so she lost everything.

Gu Yichen had been able to discern the good and evil in people since childhood.

He met a girl steeped in murderous rage. She had taken many lives, but he still wanted to save her.

He failed.

The noisy voices of condemnation rang in his ears, demanding that he uphold justice and kill the person before him.

But not long ago, he had promised to show her all the world's beautiful things and tell her that the Demon Realm wasn't her only path, that she had a choice.

In that moment, he suddenly understood that what he considered kindness felt like a knife to her.

She had endured the agony, wanting to try the path he'd told her about, wanting to believe him.

But he pushed her into the abyss, leaving her covered in wounds.

The flawless Dao heart cracked.

He would no longer be the moon in the heavens. For one person, he would willingly become dust and mud.

1. Writing to my own tastes, indulging myself. The style will probably be quite twisted. This is a not-entirely-healthy redemption story, and none of the main characters are psychologically normal.

2. Yunyu is kind at heart, but never holds back when she strikes. Xie is a complete hedonist with an unusual way of thinking.

3. Gu is in the doghouse, while Xie thinks he's forcing her into a relationship.

4. Yunyu may seem a bit robotic at the beginning because she's spent too long with the lunatic Xie and doesn't talk much. When she does speak, she says something shocking.

Theme: The sea of suffering has no end. Why bother trying to save anyone?
