Because his sins were so grave, Muzan fell into Hell after death.
Exactly one hundred years later, a System found him.
The System said it could get him released early and reincarnated as a healthy human, on one condition: within five years, he had to successfully win over someone named A Zhi.
The System also sent him her profile.
[A Zhi, full name Karasuma A Zhi. Age 16, attending Teitan High School. An utterly unremarkable heiress to a pharmaceutical company.]
In the photo, A Zhi had her head slightly bowed, her smile shy and youthful.
Apparently, she'd never been in a relationship and had always hoped to experience a love so delicious it would remain etched in her heart.
From her photo and wish, she seemed like a hopeless romantic who'd be easy to win over. Muzan had no idea why she'd describe love as "delicious," but he was sure this was in the bag.
And so Muzan confidently began his campaign to win her over.
Muzan sent her flowers.
A Zhi happily accepted them and said, "Thank you, I love them."
Muzan invited her out to eat.
A Zhi happily went along and said, "Thank you, I love it."
Muzan invited her to watch the moon.
A Zhi happily joined him and said, "Thank you, I love it."
Even when Muzan paid a halfhearted visit because A Zhi was sick, she cheerfully thanked him and said she loved it.
No matter what he did, she acted like she was already madly in love with him.
So Muzan confirmed once again: this was in the bag. Absolutely in the bag.
A few months later.
Just as Muzan was about to drive A Zhi's affection all the way down, the System finally lost its temper and pointed out the biggest problem with her situation:
System: Maybe you should just give up on being human.
System: I heard she likes small animals.
System: Try turning into a cat to win her over.
Muzan glanced at his current affection score: -99.
Muzan: ...Fine.

[This way: The Husband Is Foolish, but Delicious]
[The plot and worldbuilding are shared with the adjacent novel, Evil God Invades the World of Detective Fiction. That one will be added to the upcoming list after a while. You don't need to have read it to enjoy this one.]
Theme: Build a healthy view of love.
