Blurb One
Is being smart a sin? Is being different a sin?
Everyone is foolish, and the human heart is the hardest thing to understand.
After all, humans are born sinners. Ignorance, confusion, and everything else are sins.
Original sin, born from humanity's negative emotions.
Humans who use their lives to root out original sin.
Over and over, with no end in sight.
"Heh heh! This is when the great Ranpo steps in!"
The boy stood with his hands on his hips, chin raised proudly, as if it were only natural, with a touch of childishness.
His eyes opened fully behind his glasses. His emerald-green gaze was filled with a resolve and decisiveness never seen before. "Everyone except the great Ranpo is a complete idiot. Idiots should do what idiots are supposed to do."
"That means placing absolute trust in the great detective and following his every instruction to the letter."
The boy from another world stood before a group of sorcerers who had yet to experience heartbreak, and said without a trace of modesty, "Don't worry. The great detective can do anything."
He was the pinnacle of human intellect, a treasure the world would never see the likes of again.
He was the world's greatest detective, Edogawa Ranpo.
Blurb Two
After suddenly arriving in an unfamiliar world from Yokohama, he found no detective agency founded for his sake, no president, and none of his agency colleagues.
Looking out at the strange world before him, shrouded in smoke and swirling dust, the great detective who had just escaped a curse curved his lips into a smile.
"You come from some big family, have a pair of unusual eyes, dislike conventional wisdom, currently attend a school on your side, like to joke around, only consider the person beside you a friend, like sweets, and don't like following rules. Mm-hmm, having good taste in sweets is a good sign. Take the great Ranpo to register at your school, then treat him to the best wagashi!"
"The best dessert is obviously edamame Kikufuku!" Gojo Satoru retorted instinctively, then quickly realized what he'd said and stared at the curse-incident victim who had inexplicably approached him. "Who are you? Have you been investigating me?"
"That doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm hungry. I haven't eaten all day."
"What does you not eating have to do with me?"
"Come on, sunglasses guy!"
Years later, after countless crises had been successfully resolved, Gojo Satoru thought back to that moment and said with unmistakable glee, "That's just like me. I have such a good eye! I invited Ranpo to join us the very first time we met."
