Chi Cheng is an utterly ordinary new graduate on her way to report for her first day at work when she's forced to bind herself to a Zombie King System.
The Zombie King System praises its own good judgment, claiming it can see Chi Cheng has the potential to become a Zombie King, then forces a task on her: bite a living creature.
Chi Cheng has no idea how it figured that out, but no way is she letting it strong-arm her!
She argues with the System and demands that it leave her body. The next second, a commotion erupts up ahead. Someone suddenly twists their body into a pretzel, lets out a strange "huh-huh" sound, then bites down hard on the neck of the person beside them, tearing off a chunk of flesh.
The person bitten by the strange figure immediately starts making the same "huh-huh" sound.
"Zombies! It's zombies!"
The panicked crowd flees, piercing screams ring out, and the world descends into chaos.
Chi Cheng gulps and asks, "What do I get for completing the task?"
The System says, "You can redeem a total of one hour of time as a zombie. During that hour, you'll keep your sanity and zombies won't attack you."
Isn't that basically a one-hour get-out-of-death-free card? Think of how many supplies she can collect in an hour!
She's in!
But her legs are too weak to run. How is she supposed to find someone to bite...?
The next second, someone grabs Chi Cheng's wrist and drags her along. "Come on, it's dangerous here!"
Chi Cheng's eyes light up. Don't worry, she'll only take a little nibble!

On a certain day, Lin Qianjun is in a car accident and on the brink of death when he binds himself to a Saintly Father System and survives.
The Saintly Father System says that in a few days the world will be overrun by zombies. He must find the Zombie King, care for it, love it, protect it, and change its heart so it will let go of its hostility toward humanity. Then humans and zombies can share a common destiny and work together toward a brighter future.
Lin Qianjun wants to say, "Are you insane?" But when you're living under someone else's roof, you have to keep your head down. The System saved his life, and could take it back at any moment.
One day, the System orders him to witness the birth of the first zombie, explaining that only by learning about zombies firsthand can he understand their hardships and learn empathy and perspective-taking.
When he arrives at the designated location, the Saintly Father System suddenly assigns him his first mini-task: [Rescue the girl whose legs are weak with fear and take her away from the place where the zombies are appearing. Completion reward: none. Failure penalty: life reclaimed.]
Grinding his teeth, Lin Qianjun rushes forward and pulls the girl away.
"Come on, it's dangerous here!"
The next second, she sinks her teeth into his shoulder.
