A gentle, self-effacing, low-self-worth gong vs. a confident, roguishly handsome, laid-back shou.
The gong used to be a legendary fanfic writer, the queen of the fandom. He quit writing and left the fandom after pressure from all sides.
Later, he started writing original fiction, but he still carried the scars of his past, convinced he could never write well and constantly tormenting himself with self-doubt.
When the shou first entered the fandom, he discovered the gong's legendary work, which had once dominated the community. He fell for the gong through his writing and desperately wanted to meet him, but searched every platform and couldn't find a single social media account belonging to him.
Later, the shou became a new fandom superstar. While browsing for fics one day, he found the gong, who had just started writing original fiction, and the two became online friends.
Gong: Writing literature is just a way of talking pretty. Have you ever considered that my words might be deceiving you?
Shou: Then I'm willing to be deceived by you forever.
A story about two hopeless romantics.
After they get together, the shou pesters the gong to write fanfiction every day.
“Author, author, please, please finish that xxx you left incomplete!”
A suspected fanfic addict's meltdown after falling into the fandom too late and discovering that the author he loves was driven out of the community by abuse.
A bunch of TXT links are posted, and he completely loses it.
The gong adores his readers. He wrote for years without earning a cent, doing it purely for love. He'd fulfill any reader prompt as long as it didn't cross a line. Before he left the fandom, he had an excellent track record and consistently high-quality works. He was practically the perfect head chef.
The most heartbreaking thing for a fanfic author is surviving the attacks from rival ships, only to be unable to withstand the abuse from people who share their own ship.
Because the gong was driven out of the fandom by abuse, the shou is furious all the time and lashes out indiscriminately at everyone.
Never underestimate the bond between a fanfic addict and their favorite author.
(In my experience, fandoms aren't all that strict about these things. Authors are usually called Taizi, Dada, Teacher, Laoshi, Wife, Husband, or Baby. Taizi is probably the most common, so the story mostly uses it to refer to the fic-writing chefs. There's no intention to use a feminine term for a man.)
(Adding every disclaimer imaginable.)
Blurb to be revised.
Theme: Never stop loving what you love.
