Pairing: Lazy, dignified fox immortal gong x cold, stubborn, pure-hearted divine child shou.
The gong is a half-god, half-demon, the head of the Matchmaking Hall, an immortal lord who ties red threads for the beings of the Six Realms.
The shou is a divine child, the heir to the throne from the moment of his birth, and a noble young prince of the Ninth Heaven.
The gong and shou are usually at odds. The gong is an expert when it comes to romance, but the shou is a complete blockhead. (The first time they met, the shou smashed the gong's wine jar, then ran off without apologizing.) The gong thinks he acts unbearably aloof, and finds him thoroughly boring.
The gong's true form is a fox. One day, he accidentally eats an elixir and gets stuck in fox form, unable to change back.
As it happens, the shou is heading home to bed after meeting with his father. He passes the Matchmaking Hall and comes across the gong in fox form.
Then the shou takes the gong home.
Gong: Aah! What are you doing? What are you going to do to me?
And so the fox and the young prince begin a tender life together as master and pet.
The gong is much, much older than the shou. The Matchmaking Hall takes no part in the conflicts of the Ninth Heaven. Several generations of emperors have come and gone, but the Hall's main god has never changed.
The gong eventually turns back into human form.
The shou goes to the Matchmaking Hall to find him.
The gong thinks the shou has come to cause trouble, but then figures the shou has never seen his true form, so he probably won't realize he's the same fox.
To the gong's surprise, the noble young prince of the Ninth Heaven asks him to find a red thread for a fox.
Shou: I humbly ask you to find me a red thread, Immortal Lord.
Gong: Whose red thread does Your Highness want?
Shou: A fox's.
I can't stop thinking about a flirtatious, dashing beauty and a cold, blockheaded little warrior god.
The two most beautiful gods in the divine realm wake up every day to each other's faces, and can't help but say, “Wow, you're gorgeous.”
The gong isn't just the Matchmaking Lord. He's also the crown prince of a reclusive demon clan, of the true demon king's bloodline. His martial strength is on par with the shou's, but he doesn't like fighting.
Gong (drinking elegantly and minding his manners): I only wish to be a carefree immortal.
The gong is the shou's first lesson in love. The lofty divine child sees the Matchmaking Lord sitting amid red threads and drinking, and falls in love at first sight. From then on, he can only see one person (the two gods love all living things, so the rest of the world doesn't count).
Can someone appreciate a flamboyant, peacock-like immortal lord and a pure-hearted warrior god who turns red the moment he sees him? QAQ!

I'll think of a title for the final version when I have time. The general idea won't change.
Theme: It is lonely at the top.
