After her husband died, Yan Xiang lost her protection. She had no choice but to return to her old line of work, hiding the fact that she was widowed and had a child as she applied for a secretary position at a company to support her family.
Shao Heng was the newly appointed general manager. He was handsome, wealthy, and cold and merciless toward others.
But one day, Yan Xiang noticed that his gaze lingered on her for longer and longer.
The young heir to a wealthy family wanted to try something new. After he pulled out every trick, Yan Xiang couldn't refuse him.
Luckily, he was generous with his money, and he knew how to please her in bed.
She didn't take a rich young master like him seriously. She only hoped he'd get tired of her soon.
He was expected to marry for the sake of an alliance. His parents, friends, and others all tried to pressure or bribe Yan Xiang into breaking up with him, so she went along with it and ended things.
But late that night, Shao Heng knocked on her door, took her hand, and slipped a diamond ring onto her finger.
He said, “I want to marry you.”
Just then, her daughter peeked out from behind her. “Mom, who is he?”
Shao Heng narrowed his eyes slightly and echoed, “...Mom?”
[Bonus scene]
Yan Xiang was always mysterious. She had to be home by nine every night and never stayed out overnight.
She was delicate and meek, and people at the company often ordered her around. Shao Heng assumed her parents were strict.
Until he found out that she was a widow with a daughter, and that her neighbors called her a woman who remained deeply devoted to her late husband.
He cornered her, one question after another:
“Sweethearts since school?”
“A match made in heaven?”
“The fruit of your love?”
His eyes were bloodshot. “Then what am I?”
Yan Xiang murmured weakly, “...I thought we were just having fun.”

Coming soon: Parting Is Hard
The idea that fortunes can reverse every thirty years might be called inspiring or uplifting when it happens to someone else.
For Zhou Fu, it was a disaster.
She was the ex-girlfriend who had looked down on a poor young man years ago and left him to marry someone else.
Her husband was imprisoned. As she tried everything to get him out, she inevitably crossed paths with Zong Sui, now a powerful man of high standing.
At thirty, he was climbing the ranks fast and enjoying the height of his success.
He looked down at her pitiful, disheveled appearance.
With a cold sneer, he said, “Miss Zhou, who would've thought you'd be groveling and begging someone for help one day?”
Zhou Fu stammered
He really was still holding a grudge over the ugly way they'd broken up and the things she'd said to him back then.
*
When old flames met again, it was inevitable that they would become entangled once more.
After several nights of passion, Zhou Fu hid beneath the covers, on the verge of tears. “I was wrong.”
“About what?”
Her voice caught. “I was wrong to insult you back then.”
Zong Sui's expression softened a little, but then he heard her add, “And I shouldn't have gotten involved with you...”
Zong Sui laughed coldly and grew rougher.
Late at night, half asleep, she thought she felt the man who always kept to his own side of the bed pull her into his arms.
He asked, “...Why?”
“Why were you willing to run around asking for help for him, when you abandoned me without a second thought?”
