Now updating next door: My Antique Shop Boss Is a Total Flirt
White rose x red rose | brilliant archaeology professor x mysterious antique shop owner
[The top student of Jing University Archaeology Department x an irreverent flirt]
Blurb:
When Pu Ning first entered the industry, her agent followed her around and reminded her for the eight hundredth time: "If you see Bian Qinghe, stay away! She's a force of nature you can't afford to mess with. Even a little contact will cost you dearly!"
Back then, Pu Ning was still a newcomer who blushed while clutching her script. She nodded timidly. "Okay. If I run into her, I'll keep my distance."
But fate gave her no chance to avoid her.
1.
Their first meeting was in an alley in an ancient southern city.
Bian Qinghe was the female lead, the center of everyone's attention. A qipao hugged her slender figure, and when she stood before the camera, her slightly upturned eyes were as alluring as a poisoned blade.
Pu Ning was just there to fill a minor role: a murderer with so few scenes she didn't even make the crew list.
The crew had been filming on location there for half a month. By the time Pu Ning arrived, it was the rainy season, and the ancient city's slick bluestone streets reflected people's silhouettes.
The director worried she couldn't pull off the words "ruthless and vicious," so he arranged for a supporting actress to rehearse with her.
When she knocked on the guesthouse door as arranged, the rain had just begun to pour.
After a long wait, she heard porcelain shatter inside. Then a frost-covered face appeared in the doorway.
Bian Qinghe's brows were knit, and she couldn't conceal the hostility in her eyes.
Pu Ning was so frightened that she stumbled over her words. "S-sorry..."
The other woman didn't respond. She turned and walked inside, leaving the door ajar.
Pu Ning stood rooted to the spot.
Only when a cool, impatient, slightly hoarse voice drifted out from inside did she move. "Come in."
Her heart jumped. She practically stumbled in, bringing the door gently shut behind her.
2.
For the next half-month, the rain came back every night, right on time.
The wooden bed creaked and sank beneath them. Their entwined figures bathed in the shattered silver of moonlight, while the heat inside seemed to soften the rain beyond the eaves. It pattered onto the bluestone pavement, tinged with a clinging, lingering blush.
Pu Ning counted the pulse beating at the other woman's neck, long since forgetting her agent's warning to stay away.
All she could think about was the tiny crimson mole at the corner of the other woman's eye and those bewitching whispers.
Some people might be wrapped in ice and bristling with thorns, but once they caught your eye, you could never look away.
3.
Everyone in the industry said Bian Qinghe was an ice block no one could warm, and a poisonous one at that.
Scandals filled the internet, and insults followed every trending topic, but no one dared truly take her on.
After all, this award-winning actress had enough trophies to knock out half the entertainment industry.
At first, her entanglement with Pu Ning had only been a nasty whim, an urge to spill some ink across that "blank page."
It was the most outrageous role she'd played in her nearly thirty years of life.
It should have ended when filming wrapped.
She hadn't expected that every rainy night afterward, as she listened to the rain outside, she would think of that room with its warm woody scent and the girl with her faint fragrance of soap pods.
The actress thought it was just a moment of reckless indulgence, but it became an obsession she carried year after year.
Taciturn younger pursuer, skilled in bed x sharp-tongued, soft-hearted older woman who gives in
There'll be a day when they switch roles
Reading guide:
1. A mountain of headcanons
2. Six-year age gap / both each other's first / happy ending
3. No real-life inspirations. Don't make assumptions.
4. If it's not for you, just stop reading.
Theme: Avoiding her became the most futile resistance; drawing closer became an instinct she couldn't control.
