Until the Blizzard Lets Up

Radiant and passionate, a sweet airhead, mountain guide, and woman from an ethnic minority: the gong × Cool and composed, aloof as a flower on a high peak, geology professor, and hearing-impaired shou

Pei Jingyue got that familiar phone call at her mother's funeral, but the person on the other end wasn't her ex-girlfriend, whom she hadn't seen in three years.

"Jiangcuo... Jiangcuo... She went to Jialuo Dong Peak... She's been missing for ten days... I'm afraid she really won't be coming back this time..."

The old woman spoke through her tears, her Mandarin halting and awkward. The phone slipped from Pei Jingyue's palm.

The piercing, bone-chilling wind of the plateau and the funeral music rushed into her ears together.

Memories came roaring back.

When they broke up, no matter how desperately Baima Jiangcuo begged her to stay, Pei Jingyue only said:

"Have you ever seen the sunrise from the summit of Jialuo Dong Peak?"

"What... do you mean?"

"Let's meet again when the endless snowstorms on Jialuo Dong Peak finally stop."

*Jialuo Dong Peak is in eastern Nepal, within the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. Its magnificent, towering scenery and year-round snow have earned it the name Jewel of the Himalayas. Though Jialuo Dong Peak is only 7,462 meters high, its extremely harsh natural environment and volatile weather have made it impossible for anyone to reach the summit.
