Currently writing. Expected to start in late November.
After enjoying more than a decade of good times, Jiang Jin fell in love with writing melodramatic stories.
Secret heirs and impostors, heroines and male leads running away while pregnant, spouses chasing after their runaway partners and staging grand romantic gestures, as well as every kind of tragic death story... The outrageous plots and brainless characters earned her plenty of "warm regards" from readers.
Then karma came for her.
A speeding truck, a drowsy driver, a guardrail long past its prime, and a cliff with no signal... The driver died on the spot, leaving behind an unconscious father, a paralyzed mother, a blind younger sister, and a ruined family.
The police called it an accident. Everyone else called her unlucky.
Jiang Jin didn't know about the others, but the driver was a middle-aged bachelor with no family or friends and just ten thousand yuan in savings.
So even adding the compensation to all her savings and writing income wouldn't cover the million-yuan medical bills her parents were about to face!!!
Worse still, her parents and younger sister began to seem less and less human by the day.
Her unconscious father couldn't stop the corners of his mouth from curling upward. Her paralyzed mother began dancing strangely in the middle of the night, while her sister tried every day to dig out animals' eyes and put them in her own sockets.
One night, they nearly slurped her up like a roast chicken.
The surreal reality was driving Jiang Jin insane.
Then someone who looked like an insurance salesman came to see her.
"Want to know how to make your family normal again? Want to learn the truth about this world? Join us, and it can all be yours."
It sounded ridiculous, but Jiang Jin had no other options. With nothing to lose, she agreed to the terms.
"All right, then. Let me introduce you to your clients: the 'stories' of this world.
For example, the truck covered in eyes that hit you at the crash scene a year ago. Or the apartment building that loves throwing people off, the restaurant that keeps burning its customers to death, the computer that likes slurping people up...
Their plots aren't complete, and their logic doesn't quite hold together. But if you can write a story that satisfies them, you can reverse every ending and make your family normal again."
"Can I write melodramatic stories? I think that's all I know how to do."
"Of course. A story only has three requirements:
First, the characters must be right.
Second, the logic must hold together.
Third, the 'readers' must be satisfied.
Everything else is up to you. Simple, right? Good luck."
