-
After transmigrating into a book as a useless prince who is about to be betrothed to the current dynasty’s chief minister, Zhu Chaojin flees his wedding in the middle of the night.
Rumor has it that the chief minister is a murderous man with a twisted temperament. If Zhu marries him, he probably won’t survive the night.
He can’t afford to provoke the man, but he can stay out of his way.
-
Fleeing south, through picturesque rain-soaked landscapes, he happens upon a refined, gentle young gentleman in dire straits.
The man is as elegant as jade, his sleeves carrying a faint fragrance. He is a civil official persecuted by a powerful minister, fleeing south to escape danger.
Zhu Chaojin gladly invites him to travel together. They are both down on their luck, after all, and could use a companion on the road.
But during their flight, Zhu is accidentally poisoned by an aphrodisiac. In a daze, he ends up sleeping with the man.
He wakes up feeling terribly guilty, and can only steel himself to promise to “take responsibility.”
As they spend more time together, Zhu sees the handsome young gentleman growing more and more attached to him, and his unease deepens
Until the capital is thrown into turmoil and the enemy forces reach the city. He cruelly leaves without a word and hides away in a mountain hut.
-
He assumes he’ll live in obscurity from then on, avoiding the world.
But the very next day, armored soldiers surround the hut until not even a drop of water can get through.
Through the morning mist, a familiar figure approaches at an unhurried pace.
The deputy general bows and respectfully greets him: “Chief Minister.”
Zhu Chaojin: ?!
…Who?
The gentle, unfortunate young man of the past now stands before an army of thousands. He looks down at Zhu and smiles faintly. “My betrothed.”
“You ran away from our wedding, then seduced me and abandoned me… Tell me, how should we settle this debt?”
Reading guide:
1. A clever, beautiful young playboy vs. a mad chief minister with a split personality
2. One-on-one, both virgins, happy ending
★ Please add "I Humiliated the Tyrant and Then Ran Away" to your reading list. It’s being written now.
Bai Yue transmigrates into a book and becomes a servant. After being drugged with an aphrodisiac, he’s locked up in the residence of a disgraced prince, tasked with humiliating the Crown Prince’s most envied younger brother, Xiao Yi.
But Xiao Yi is the protagonist. The suffering he’s subjected to now is merely one of the many trials he must endure before achieving greatness.
The protagonist holds a grudge over every slight. Once he becomes emperor, he’ll grind everyone in the Crown Prince’s faction to dust that very night!
Bai Yue: W-would it be possible to carbonize a human body and then restore it???
In short, this is something he absolutely must not do, but he has no choice.
After much thought, Bai Yue decides to take it slow, do it gradually, and keep a steady pace. He absolutely mustn’t go all in recklessly.
Especially when Xiao Yi goes berserk after losing his sight and breaking his leg. To stay alive, Bai Yue has to soothe him before getting to work, and heal him so he can keep going.
Once the drug wears off, Bai Yue flees in the middle of the night, only to run straight into Xiao Yi, who is heading south to put down a rebellion.
Face-to-face with him amid a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, Bai Yue quickly pledges allegiance. Through a twist of fate, he ends up in the military camp and slowly rises through the ranks to become Xiao Yi’s scheming adviser.
From then on, he spends every day helping Xiao Yi look for people, kill people, and find people to kill him.

…
At last, the protagonist ascends the throne. Bai Yue resigns and returns to his hometown, which he has deliberately made up to be a beautiful place of clear waters and green hills. His carriage carries all the money he’s saved, and the procession is grander than a bridal parade stretching ten miles.
The imperial residence has just been completed. Its serene and elegant appearance is exactly to his liking. Far from the troubles of the past, all Bai Yue wants is a good night’s sleep.
But the interior of the residence seems eerily familiar.
Bamboo leaves rustle, and Bai Yue is horrified to spot a black-and-gold dragon robe deep among the shadows. Then he falls into the wheelchair he made with his own hands.
A feverish, deranged excitement swirls in Xiao Yi’s eyes. His gaze caresses Bai Yue’s utterly bloodless face as he grips his little military adviser’s slender legs, rubs his ankle, and rests it on the armrest.
The man’s pale lips brush his ear, but his breath is so hot that Bai Yue trembles.
“You’re so good at running, aren’t you? You’ll never get away again.”
Reading guide:
1. Both are virgins. An obsessive, mad-dog tyrant vs. a clever, stunning civil official
2. The bottom is slippery and hard to pin down; the top is obsessively deranged
3. As is customary, happy ending.
Theme: Be a good person
