The last Wood Release user of Konoha, Senju Soma, mysteriously disappeared. After traveling through several worlds, he finally returned home to retire.
In one of those worlds, he met a strange child.
The child was named Gojo Satoru. Beautiful and delicate as a doll in a shop window, he had the same hair color as Soma's disciple, Kakashi, and wore the same pale blue dragonfly-patterned kimono as Soma's niece, Tsunade. Stranger still, the necklace swaying against his chest as he walked was the one that Tree had been wearing before he disappeared.
The other similarities might have been coincidences, but Soma would never mistake a necklace sealed with Wood Release chakra.

Because of the necklace and certain familiar feelings, Soma stayed and became Gojo Satoru's teacher. He also explained the guidelines for their teacher-disciple relationship.
[One day, I will leave.] When that happens, you will be very, very sad, so be prepared.
[To me, my disciples are family. You can rely on me no matter what happens.] Family is everything to me.
[I don't think I'm qualified to teach anyone how to be strong. Let's explore the limits of strength together.] The more someone prides themselves on being strong, the harder it is for them to let go of what they can't change and the people they couldn't save.
Eight-year-old Gojo Satoru didn't take any of this to heart.
Not until, ten years later, that person disappeared from this world for good.

At twenty-eight, Gojo Satoru finally found the teacher who had abandoned him.
The man hadn't aged a day in ten years. He was busy currying favor with a white-haired, masked man who showed only one eye.
His fawning, timid attempts to please the man were disgusting.
"Hah. Senju Soma, are you using me as a substitute?"
Reading Guide:
1. Soma is the pursuer, and Gojo is his pairing.
2. Gojo did not attend Tokyo Jujutsu High.
3. Soma puts family above everything and has an extremely excessive desire to protect them.
4. His relationship with Kakashi is father and son!
