One-on-one relationships in stages, with frequent pairings.
Bai Suqiu, the sharpest scavenger on a junk planet, decides to sell the “Guide” she picked up in order to buy a ticket off the planet.
The other person is so beautiful, even their spirit form is an elegant, lovely orchid mantis. Bai Suqiu thinks, saving someone’s life in exchange for a ticket isn’t too much to ask.
People who sell others will be sold themselves. Bai Suqiu discovers that she’s the one who’s been sold.
Fate plays another cruel joke on her. On Awakening Day, she becomes the evolutionist she’s always dreamed of being, but as a lowly D-rank Guide.
Rescued by luck and admitted to the White Tower, she thinks she can finally live a peaceful life.
But the Mantis Lady appears before her again. It turns out she isn’t a Guide at all, but a lofty S-rank Sentinel, a young duchess.
The Mantis Lady’s level of mutation is dangerously high. She presses her scythe-like forelimbs against Bai Suqiu’s neck, her fantastical compound eyes full of complicated emotions. “If you don’t focus during guidance, you might get eaten.”
From then on, her assignment list is no longer hers to control.
A D-rank Guide is assigned to S-rank Sentinels one after another. Each guidance session is like a silent hunt. But strangely, her mental energy never runs dry. It only grows more abundant.
And the Sentinels she guides start acting strangely. They kneel at her feet, asking for deep marking, their eyes burning like worshippers coming before a god.
On the day her term ends, she thinks she’ll finally be free of all this. But the High Court arrests her for mental manipulation.
The upright, handsome son of the chief justice sits before her in court. The proud red-crowned crane bows his head to her, willing to break the law and bend the rules for her sake.
The elite teams, long considered the guardians of the Federation, break their strict code in an attempt to spring her from prison.
The elegant, noble young duchess openly turns against her own side, keeping up the pressure on the Celestials. The little mantis doesn’t hesitate to bare her arm blades.
Even the cold-blooded leader of the star pirates is ready to stir up trouble everywhere, hoping to pull off an audacious switch.
Finally acquitted, Bai Suqiu looks at the web of psychic marks that has spread everywhere and drops her act. “I didn’t want it to turn out this way either. Blame it all on the moon.”
Reader's guide:
Interstellar Sentinel-and-Guide story, with a universally adored female protagonist and one-sided crushes from everyone. The number of love interests is uncertain, and the relationships do not happen simultaneously.
Spirit forms include fluffy creatures, arthropods, birds of prey, cold-blooded animals, and marine life. Their appearance becomes quite inhuman when mutated, so please avoid if that bothers you.
The heroine is not a kind person and doesn’t realize she’s a heartbreaker. All she wants is a peaceful, happy life.
