Jiang Liu is a descendant of Shennong. Every hundred years, she descends to the mortal realm to undergo a trial and save the people of a savage land. Jiang Liu has a sworn rival, Cang Zhuo, whom she can't stand. When he learns she's going down to the mortal realm again, he says with a fake smile, “Hope you make it back alive.” Sure.
Jiang Liu gives him a cold look. “Thanks. See you never.”
In the next instant, Jiang Liu and Cang Zhuo find themselves transported together to a primitive beast world by the sea!
Jiang Liu stares at him in shock. “What's going on with you?”
Cang Zhuo is baffled. “How should I know?!”
Jiang Liu mutters to herself, “This can't be right. This has never happened in hundreds of years!”
“Stop talking and turn me back into a human! This is all your fault!” Cang Zhuo yells furiously, now reduced to his original form: a blade of grass.
Jiang Liu points at herself. So she not only has to clear land, farm, and raise livestock, but also help her sworn rival become human again first?

The beastfolk who migrated to the seashore only know how to forage along the coast according to the tides. They can barely make sense of the “gifts from nature” they pick up each day, just enough to stave off hunger.
Watching the beastfolk leave the vast ocean untapped, Jiang Liu rolls up her sleeves and gets them building boats, fishing, and raising seafood in enclosed pools. Razor-clam paste, dried yellow croaker, silverfish jerky, cured scale fish... She puts all kinds of delicious food on the menu!
Gradually, Jiang Liu notices that her sworn rival Cang Zhuo seems to be getting nicer under her influence. Cang Zhuo knows all kinds of herbs found in the beast world, so Jiang Liu returns to her old profession: farming and treating the fluffy beastfolk's unusual ailments along the way.
Even when the crops here are mutated, with rice stalks that can prick you and poisonous tubers, Jiang Liu and Cang Zhuo find a way to deal with them all. From then on, everyone's lives keep getting better!
A little scene:
Cang Zhuo's original form is a divine illusion grass that can freely change shape. Knowing how much Jiang Liu loves fluffy creatures, he often appears in different beast forms.
The giant fluffball looks down at Jiang Liu, who's sleeping soundly on top of him without a care in the world. Unable to resist, he lowers his head and licks Jiang Liu's fair cheek.
Jiang Liu wakes after getting pricked by his rough tongue and asks groggily, “Did you just lick me?”
Damn, I forgot that a tiger's tongue has barbs. Cang Zhuo hurriedly turns away. “Ahem, I didn't. You were dreaming.”
Many years later, a legend spreads throughout the beast world: the Beast God has three beastfolk guardians at his side, a tiger, a wolf, and a leopard. One sub-beastman and three beastmen... Such a thing is unheard of in the beast world. No wonder he's the Beast God!
