Jiang Qie is a medical student.

The kind who wants to fall asleep as soon as he gets to the hospital. Until one day, after his night shift, he glanced into a hospital room by chance and saw a bunch of blue fish swimming out of the IV bag the nurse had just hung up.

His eyes were playing tricks on him. Perfectly normal!

Jiang Qie ignored it and went home to catch up on sleep. In his dream, he saw the patient who'd been wheezing all day chasing him with a knife. He woke up in a fright!

The next day at work, Jiang Qie went out of his way to check on that patient, only to be told the patient had died. He remembered the patient chasing him with a knife, not him attacking someone else with one!

From then on, Jiang Qie's life was like he'd opened a hole in a fishpond. Every day, a bunch of little blue fish would appear. Every patient surrounded by blue fish would show up in his dreams at night. They'd either be strangled by plants growing from the Hippocratic Oath, or become poor souls about to jump to their deaths.

Unable to take it anymore, Jiang Qie finally decided to fish all of them away and get himself a peaceful night's sleep. In the world surrounded by plants growing from the Hippocratic Oath, he picked up a book and smacked awake his senior resident, who was obsessing over exams, then strongly persuaded him to change specialties. In the world where someone was about to jump, Jiang Qie turned around, took off his white coat, changed into a pretty dress, and went to confront the fish.

There is nothing Jiang Qie can't do if you can think of it. Give him enough fish and he might even help you pluck a star from the sky.

But one day, Jiang Qie accidentally offended an especially vindictive fish. This exceptionally beautiful little blue fish, wearing a crown, waited outside Jiang Qie's home and bared its fangs at him. “Do you want to raise fish, or be raised by a fish?”

“Can I do neither?”

“If you don't raise me, I'll swallow you whole.”

“Fine, fine, I'll raise you, okay?”

Jiang Qie was close to tears. How had raising a fish turned into sharing a bathtub with it? He didn't want to bathe with a fish! Sob. Was he going to turn into fish soup?
