Synopsis
Zhong Yu's father commanded an army of three hundred thousand. When Zhong Yu was seventeen, the emperor issued an edict saying the borderlands were harsh and cold, and the empress dowager missed Zhong Yu, so he was to return to the capital and serve as the crown prince's companion.
His father thought it over, then excitedly slapped his thigh and gave Zhong Yu a lecture on loyalty to the throne and love of country.
His mother stayed up all night sharpening a fine spear for him, reminding him again and again to protect the crown prince.
His older brother, Zhong Qing, patted Zhong Yu's shoulder and said, "Little brother, don't be afraid. If anything happens, come to me. I'll write and tell you what to do."
Zhong Yu's eyes brimmed with tears. With a family like this, he could ask for nothing more!
The crown prince, Yu Tingquan, had an otherworldly face and wore immaculate white robes. Everything he said and did was beautiful.
He was just too aloof.
Zhong Yu secretly wrote to his brother to ask how to get closer to the crown prince.
His brother wrote back: Call him something sweet, try holding his hand, and make him soup.
Zhong Yu did as he was told, and found that the crown prince did indeed stop being aloof. He just seemed angry instead.
So Zhong Yu asked his brother how to cheer the crown prince up.
His brother wrote back: Share a bed and sleep with your feet touching. You're both men, so what's there to be afraid of?
Zhong Yu thought that made sense. Hadn't the best relationships between ruler and subject throughout history involved eating and sleeping together? There were precedents for this!
His brother really was reliable.
So he did as he was told. This time the crown prince wasn't angry anymore, but his face was hot enough to fry an egg. Once, Zhong Yu rolled into the crown prince's arms in his sleep, and the next day the crown prince wouldn't even return to his own palace.
That wasn't good for their relationship as ruler and subject!
He hadn't done it on purpose. He'd only rolled over because he dreamed he was back on the grasslands!
He hurried to ask his brother what to do.
His brother wrote back: Find a chance to close the door and give him a kiss.
Zhong Yu took a breath. He didn't understand, but he did it anyway.
He watched as the crown prince's fair face turned redder than the sunset. The crown prince ground out words like "improper," "pervert," "rude," and "outrageous," then ran away.
Zhong Yu realized this was serious!
The crown prince seemed to hate him now! He sent his brother an urgent letter by express courier.
His brother sent a reply just as urgently: Kiss him! Kiss his neck, kiss his chest. Do I really have to teach you how two men do it?
Then he included a book of erotic illustrations featuring two men.
Zhong Yu stared blankly. Did a ruler and subject really need to go that far?
But he and the crown prince were at an impasse now. Whatever!
Far away at the border, Zhong Qing was pacing in a panic.
Neither of them ever let him have a moment's peace. Why would the crown prince hate Zhong Yu? And don't even get him started on his friend. He didn't know how to pursue a man at all. They were both men, so why were they being so fussy and dragging it out?

Synopsis
An Baijia transmigrated into a book.
He became a useless little emperor who had nothing going for him except his face. The little emperor had plotted to murder the male lead, Yin Xun, and was ultimately poisoned to death by Yin Xun, who became regent.
By the time An Baijia arrived, the little emperor had already done everything he was supposed to do in the original story. There was nothing An Baijia could do except wait to die.
On the first day of waiting peacefully for death, An Baijia fell asleep and woke up somewhere other than the palace: in the regent's residence.
For some reason, Yin Xun was only five or six years old. He was hungry, cold, and covered in injuries, warily staring at An Baijia like a little wolf hiding in its den to lick its wounds.
An Baijia's heart softened. Only after his hands had been scratched raw did the little wolf reluctantly believe he meant no harm.
For several days in a row, An Baijia waited to die in the palace by day, then appeared beside Yin Xun at night, accompanying him as he grew from a little boy into a teenager.
He thought he'd keep accompanying Yin Xun until he died. On his last night, he prepared to say goodbye to Yin Xun, but Yin Xun was trapped in a spring dream and pulled him into bed the moment he opened his eyes.
!
He was going to die the next day! Why did he have to help the protagonist with this sort of problem before he died?
Consumed by desire, Yin Xun kissed him. "Don't go. I'll agree to any request you make."
An Baijia's will to survive suddenly flickered to life. "...Then can you spare the little emperor?"
"All right."
-
Lately, Yin Xun had been dreaming every night. In his dreams, he was a boy of five or six, or a teenager, and he relived the crucial moments when he'd barely survived over the years.
But unlike his memories, someone else had appeared in these dreams.
That person had accompanied him through the hardest days, taken the poison for him in the winter snow, held his hand, and told him that one day he would become the all-powerful regent, and that he would live a good life.
When Yin Xun awoke, the scar on his wrist from the poisoning was gone.
He'd once been betrayed and left to lie in a damp, freezing jungle for seven days, suffering lasting injuries. But this time, someone had traveled a thousand miles to find him, held him close for warmth all the way, and done everything they could to ensure he would live without pain or worry.
When he woke, the old injuries from his youth had miraculously healed.
Who was he?
For some reason, although Yin Xun had studied the other person's face carefully in his dreams, he still couldn't remember a thing after waking.
In his final dream, the helpless panic of being unable to catch or remember that person followed him into the dream. This time, he caught him. He explored not only his face, but his entire body.
As they clung together, he asked what the other person wanted. The answer was that the little emperor had to live.
After waking, he looked coldly at the little emperor in the palace. He had helped the man take the throne, and he knew him well. The man was utterly useless.
The only request that person had made was for this useless emperor! What right did this useless man have to be so fiercely protected by him?
A cold light flickered in Yin Xun's eyes. Would that person only enter his dreams again if this useless emperor found himself in mortal danger?
