Seven Kills (Female-Dominant World)

(For the original story, please visit Dream Qilin Chronicles, a completed female-dominant novel.)

Short story, estimated 30,000-50,000 words

Ling Wangshu, the Chancellor of Anguo, holds great power and assists the young emperor in ruling as the Duke of Zhou once did. Yet she has only one daughter, named Danzhu.

Unfortunately, this only daughter was not born to Shen, the Chancellor's legal consort from a noble family, but to a favored companion surnamed Su, who came from a troupe of entertainers.

Years ago, when the Empress Dowager usurped power, Ling Wangshu was framed by political enemies and imprisoned in Fengming Palace. Only this Su, an attendant from the inner court, stayed by her side. The two relied on and supported each other for seven years, and had their only daughter. But they both contracted a cold illness, leaving Ling Wangshu with difficulty bearing more children and Su dependent on warming medicinal decoctions ever since.

Now that the Chancellor is getting on in years, her only daughter is about to be named heir, but the young emperor has repeatedly rejected the request.

With the emperor's suspicions on one side and conflict among her consorts within the household on the other, neither the Chancellor's court nor her household can find peace.

"There's only one thing left to do." She gazed at the sky and murmured, "We must purge the Emperor's court."

P.S. The main setting is largely inspired by the Tanglong Coup (I mean, she's the Chancellor of Anguo!), with the genders swapped. Political intrigue isn't the focus of this story. I just want to write a little love and hate.

The main couple is Wangshu and Yu Bai, with some household rivalry between the legal consort and Yu Bai (just a little). Though it's short and mixes several elements, it really is a romance... I'm just a chaotic, evil, abstract fun-seeker who loves melodrama and tragic love.

Theme: Parents who love their children plan far ahead for them
