Sly, flirtatious pursuer vs. stubborn, supposedly straight guy
Shen Yan died in his past life, surrounded by a horde of zombies in the apocalypse. After his death, his luck finally turned, and he was reborn in the peaceful, beautiful modern world of today.
There were no hideous zombies, no ever-present threat of death. The world's consciousness was very accepting of an outsider like him. It had only one request:
"Help this world's protagonist reach the pinnacle of life."
The pinnacle of life meant career plus love.
In other words, be his sidekick and play matchmaker.
It didn't sound difficult. The world's consciousness figured that, for Shen Yan, who had been able to crush the Zombie Emperor in his past life, it would be a piece of cake.
Who could have guessed that, upon seeing the protagonist playing basketball in the distance, Shen Yan would suddenly smile? His gaze lingered on the man's abs and lean waist, revealed as he ran, and he said:
"I've got a faster way. Want to hear it?"
The world's consciousness: ?
Shen Yan:
"Being his sidekick and matchmaker takes too long. Why not become the protagonist's husband instead?"
The world's consciousness:
"?"
"Stop messing around. The protagonist is straight."
"Straight?" Shen Yan smiled at the man still running in the distance, his brows lifting with absolute confidence.
"I'm not so sure about that."
Scene A:
"Shen Yan?" Gu Ting called, smiling as he asked,
"What are you staring at?"
Shen Yan looked away, calmly raised his beer to his lips, and smiled too.
"Nothing. I saw a handsome guy," he said.
"You're not interested. You're straight."
Tsk.
Gu Ting glanced unobtrusively at the handsome guy who had just walked past and said nothing. He really wasn't interested.
His buddy was great in every way, except he was gay. He actually liked men.
He didn't press the matter. He clinked his beer bottle against Shen Yan's and only said it was a shame. Wouldn't it be better to be straight, like him?
The beer went down, and he didn't notice the curl of the other's lips or the glint in his eyes.
Scene B:
"Shen Yan?" Gu Ting called, still smiling.
"What are you staring at?"
Shen Yan looked away and adjusted his watchband, his voice as breezy as ever.
"Nothing." He blinked, his smile radiant.
"I just saw a handsome guy. Really handsome."
Tsk.
The smile on Gu Ting's face stiffened for a moment, then grew even brighter. His tone was as casual as usual.
"Really?"
He paused, but couldn't help asking, his jealousy almost spilling over.
"How does he compare to me?"
The other man glanced at him, seeming a little surprised, but soon smiled again.
"Why ask? You're not interested. You're straight."
Straight?
Gu Ting mulled over the word as he looked at the smiling Shen Yan across from him. His eyes gleamed with something close to reckless surrender.
"Not anymore."
