Which is more terrifying: transmigrating or losing your memories?

Some say forgetting is the most terrifying thing. But in Bai Shui's opinion, transmigrating is far worse.

Bai Shui, a modern colorectal surgeon, transmigrates overnight and becomes the newly appointed chief judge of the Dali Court in Fenglin. She used to deal with people's bowels in the modern era, and now she has to solve cases in ancient times, too.

While investigating a case, she comes across a drum set. A drum set is a drum set. Fashion can come back around, after all.

But this is her first time seeing a drum set with human skin stretched across the drums and bones for its frame.

Then, with a casual search, she finds a Bluetooth earbud inside the victim.

Modern objects keep appearing in this so-called ancient world. Are they the result of natural disasters or human interference?

Bai Shui wishes she could just lose her eyesight.

The human-skin drum set brings two fellow townspeople together, both weeping at the sight of each other. The Bluetooth earbuds reveal a story of humans and animals failing to coexist in harmony. The fingerprint coffin is about enemies meeting face-to-face, their eyes blazing with hatred...

But here, in Fenglin, the strangest thing is not modern people transmigrating, or ancient people transmigrating, or even transmigrating Systems. It is the irreversible harm that transmigration inflicts on everyone.

Amnesia.

Memories can be recovered, but what about the people who are lost?

Note: The types of transmigration and the scope of memory loss vary. First published in full on Jinjiang.
