[I write just to make myself happy.]
On a silent mountain of corpses, an infant's cry suddenly pierced the air. Beneath her lay countless warm bodies, piled one on top of another.
The baby drank blood to quench her thirst and ate severed limbs and rotting flesh to sate her hunger. Before she even knew what it meant to be alive, her tiny body had already made its instinctive choice.
Cold wind rustled past. Black crows rejoiced, the barren mountain smiled, and layer upon layer of emerald peaks bowed to welcome a new life.
"What does this feel like?" the girl asked curiously, holding a bowl of blood.
"Warm."
The girl fell silent for a moment, then asked, "Where did I come from?"
A low, hurried sigh sounded, followed by uneven breaths. Then, solemnly, came the answer: "You were born on a mountain of corpses."
"Are the mountains elsewhere as beautiful?"
This time, no one answered her. The blood in the bowl cooled. She drank it all, without leaving a drop.
