Jing Mian entered an infinite-loop world because he wanted to die. The unlucky guy unilaterally decided that his teammates were family.
He worked tirelessly as their leader and finally paid a terrible price to guide them through every world.
But his teammates turned on him, blaming him for failing to do everything perfectly and calling him a monster who had killed the deputy captain.
“Deputy Captain Liang is dead! How could you bring yourself to do it?!”
“You don’t deserve to be our leader!”
“Why was it him who died instead of you?!”
Jing Mian had no way to explain himself. The last thing tying him to the world was gone, and his heart lay in pieces. He quietly lay down. Goodbye, disappointing world!
-
Jing Mian’s original world was just as dangerous as the infinite-loop worlds, overrun with monsters.
He had all the skills he’d brought back from the infinite-loop worlds, but spent every day cooped up in his rental apartment, trying to figure out how to die.
Monsters admired strength. At some point, they had all begun to think of him as their “king.”
Naturally, they wanted to curry favor with their king!
They all knew their king wanted to die. So flowers were always set on Jing Mian’s windowsill, childish but amusing toys were always piled by his door, and when his birthday came, the monsters blew up their own bodies to put on a fireworks display.
So clumsy.
Jing Mian turned his head and said he didn’t want them, not noticing his flushed cheeks or the smile he couldn’t hold back.
-
Jing Mian knew a terrifyingly powerful tentacle monster had appeared among them. It always brought the loveliest lilies of the valley and knew everything he liked.
But it had snuck into his home, stopped him from dying, and even dared to climb into his bed at night!
Enough was enough!
Jing Mian couldn’t speak. One night, he fought to stay awake and resist being hypnotized, then bit down hard on the tentacle that had pushed deep into his mouth. Fury blazed in his reddened, tear-filled eyes.
The tentacle paused for a moment, then wound around him even tighter.
“Love... captain... love...”
Jing Mian froze.
Could it be... Deputy Captain Liang?
-
After that, another group of people came into Jing Mian’s world: his former teammates.
They said they had come to find him and apologize.
“Captain, come to our safe world! It’s too dangerous here!”
“Captain, we brought your favorite lilies of the valley! Didn’t you say we were family?”
They held out a small bouquet of lilies of the valley and smiled cautiously.
But Jing Mian was no longer the pathetic guy who got choked up whenever someone showed him a little concern. He leaned against the doorframe, a tentacle monster coiled around his arm. Monsters lay scattered at his feet, rubbing against him and whining. White lilies of the valley crowded his windowsill, hanging down like lanterns.
He smiled casually. “I don’t need you anymore.”
He had all the family and lilies of the valley he needed.
