Su En discovers that every night he transmigrates into the newly released console game Throne of the Evil Gods. The game's main plot follows the player as they defeat one evil-guiding monster after another and destroy the throne, returning the world to its original state.
Su En transmigrates into the body of an accessory to one of the main-story mini-bosses: the kingdom's fourth prince, a delicate parasite who clings to his twin brother. He drains his brother's fortune and blood, eventually taking root in his spine and turning him into an evil god. He is known as the Marrow-Drainer.
As one of the main-story bosses, he is destined to die.
If he dies in the dream, will he die for real?
Su En wakes with the wounds from his dream: I'm doomed...
A gaming novice, Su En decides he has to do something if he wants to survive.
But the game has only just launched, its plot is scattered and fragmented, and even the gaming experts haven't put together a decent walkthrough. Meanwhile, one night in the game lasts several weeks for him!
Su En is forced into a miserable routine: while awake, he frantically explores every inch of the game; when he falls asleep and transmigrates, he tries to save himself.
Su En never expected that his survival strategy would turn him into a gaming expert in real life. The game becomes a smash hit, and so does he, with money pouring into his account.
In the dream, his twin brother puts on a mask, believing that this face belongs only to his younger brother;
The Fallen God King leads the Four Guard Legions to the border and demands a nonaggression pact with the fourth prince;
A trusted elite of the Black-Faced Church, who serves his father the king, suddenly passes him information about the king's movements. It turns out to be a god-defector he once let escape;
And the seal on the Beast-Sin Goddess, which he tampered with, has already begun to weaken...
Then the many things he did, all punishable by death as treason, are exposed, and Su En is thrown into prison.
Su En is desperate. How can he explain to this pack of idiots that everything he did was for the greater good?!
Just then, the adjudicator knight who is supposed to execute him cuts through his shackles with a single blow and saves him.
Before the gallows, a man in divine-beast armor, black hair matted with blood, and an Evil-Guiding Spear in hand leads a vast army against the kingdom's forces.
His brother, wearing the God-Defying Mask, drapes a cloak over his shoulders.
Su En looks at the cloak on him, the Fate-Changer Cloak awarded for completing the game, and his eyes widen in shock.
“Your Highness, seize the royal scepter and lead us in shattering the throne of the gods.”
Su En stares blankly at the unstoppable “Fourth Prince's Army,” with the kingdom's army behind him. He's at a loss.
Theme: A hero who saves the nation should be honored and welcomed, not discarded once his usefulness is over.
