[Interactive story, starting once enough people pre-save it!]
Luosang transmigrates into Frostfall Forest and sneaks into demon territory. Taking advantage of the chaos, he steals a newly hatched dragon egg, hoping to trade it for a secure job in the royal city so he can coast through life.
While escaping his pursuers, he accidentally falls into a river. Just as he's about to drown, someone fishes him out.
The figure before him, its face impossible to make out, claims to be the River God.
The River God asks him kindly, "My dear friend, did Luosang drop these golden underwear, these silver underwear, or perhaps these cotton underwear?"
Confused, Luosang reflexively checks his waistband. His underwear, with its hole in it, is still there. He didn't drop it.
Clutching the dragon egg, he turns and walks away.
Behind him, the River God sighs gloomily. "The golden, silver, and cotton underwear all got zero votes, so I guess we have to open the backup option..."
The next second, Luosang trips over a stranded mermaid.
Luosang: ?
The River God turns into a streak of light and swiftly dives deep into Luosang's consciousness. Its smug voice rings in his mind: "Mermaids don't need to wear underwear. Isn't that wonderful?"
Luosang has an egg in his left hand, a fish in his right, and a fat River God in his head.
River God: "I'm not fat!"
The River God, who calls itself "Luosang's closest companion in the future," tells him that he's actually the protagonist of a book. Unfortunately, his creator, that awful author, fell ill halfway through outlining the story, deleted all the files, and decided to write chapter by chapter while letting readers choose Luosang's path in life.
So the River God has brought him a series of choices from another world.
"But what does that have to do with underwear...?" Luosang, whose worldview has crumbled into tofu, squeezes out enough energy to ask. "Did you just say all three underwear options got zero votes?"
The River God's face is kind. "That's right, dear. There are currently zero readers for this book where you're the protagonist."
Luosang: "..."
Luosang: "Do you really have to write this novel?"
Luosang doesn't think he's the chosen one, and he has no great ambition to fight fate. His only motto in life is four words: Whatever happens, happens.
So Luosang accepts what fate has in store and spends one "whatever happens, happens" day after another, choosing from the options the River God keeps popping up with.
"My dear friend, after successfully using your charms to preserve peace and prosperity across the magical continent, will you spend the night with the Church's Holy Son, the Demon Realm's prince, the merman warlock, the little dragon clan leader who refuses to return to his nest, the Royal City's Grand Knight of Light, or the Elf King who lives deep in the mountains... Goodness, how did you get involved with so many men!"
Luosang: "..."
Luosang: "Wait! You can't put that up for a vote!!"
