Xothy hasn't been very happy lately, because his pet died. He wasn't particularly fond of the pet, but it had kept him company for many years.
Seeing how down he was, a friend invited him to an auction.
Xothy was bored at the auction and couldn't understand why his friend had dragged him here to sit around.
That is, until the final surprise item was revealed...
Xothy got a new pet, a lovely little creature unlike anything he'd ever seen.
Snow-white, soft, and adorable.
Frailer than it looked, but extremely intelligent. Harmless, and able to communicate in simple ways, it was the perfect companion pet.
The auction house issued a special warning: This species is intelligent and delicate. When unhappy, it may harm itself, and there's a risk it might run away. Its owner must devote a great deal of time and attention to caring for it.
Xothy liked this little creature.
He didn't mind the trouble.
He only wanted to take good care of the tiny being in front of him,
a human.
