[Easygoing, Face-Con-Loving Bottom x Proud, Aloof Top]
Chao Xi was an utterly ordinary, law-abiding citizen.
He went through nine years of compulsory education like everyone else, then barely scraped into the best high school in the area. One of the few times he ever stepped out of line was probably when, before he was even old enough to keep his pants clean, he latched onto Shen Yunshu, the young master of the Shen family, like a branch reaching high into the sky.
Chao Xi knew his place. Becoming friends with the dazzling, universally adored beauty who stood above everyone else was a blessing he had earned over eight lifetimes. So whenever they spent time together, he took the initiative to look after Shen Yunshu, cherishing him like the apple of his eye.
Quite a few people said behind his back that he was Shen Yunshu's dog, that he relied on Shen Yunshu for everything. Apart from his face, there was nothing about him worthy of their "white moonlight."
Chao Xi couldn't even be bothered to raise an eyelid when he heard it. After all, with just his face alone, he was sure he outclassed all those people clamoring to be Shen Yunshu's dog by a mile.
So what if he was a dog? His owner was so impressive that being led around by him would bring Chao Xi glory, too.
...Shen Yunshu was simply too beautiful. Chao Xi would even accept being his dog.
Besides, it was hard to say which of them was holding the leash.
When Shen Yunshu was sick and refused to take his medicine, his mother had to practically carry Chao Xi over in a sedan chair to coax him. If Chao Xi was out of Shen Yunshu's sight for too long, Shen Yunshu would grow anxious, his eyes reddening. He had to be able to see and touch Chao Xi before he could calm down.
Chao Xi sneered. "So which one of us can't live without the other? And who's the dog?"

Shen Yunshu's possessiveness toward Chao Xi had reached a deranged level. If Chao Xi hadn't been so mentally resilient, Shen Yunshu would have driven him to jump off a building long ago.
When it came to beautiful people, Chao Xi enjoyed gradually taming them, watching them grow more and more unable to live without him.
But if they tried to put a leash around his neck, too, and dreamed of holding on without ever letting go, he would leave without a shred of mercy.
Theme: Love means acceptance and compromise.
