When Matsuda Jinpei was in high school, he accidentally transmigrated to another dimension. There, he found a System.
The System said, "Actually, I can turn into a cat if you want. I can be a dog, too."
Matsuda Jinpei rejected the System's suggestion to turn into an animal. He said that rather than becoming an animal, it should become a tool, so he could defend himself in this pitch-black place that seemed to be inside a human body.
"This place is actually called the Metaverse..."
With the System's explanations and guidance, Matsuda Jinpei successfully became a Phantom Thief.
Then, during one of his heart-stealing missions, the Organization caught him red-handed.
