Richard Grayson, code name Nightwing, protector of Bludhaven.

He used to think life's troubles amounted to □□, drugs, and the occasional "greeting" from Arkham.

Until he met Milly, a silver-haired witcher from another world.

She liked her vodka with lemon juice, slaughtered monsters as easily as chopping vegetables, and insisted that magic in this world "tastes like sour milk."

A vigilante ought to be wary of magical newcomers, but, as always, it was Dick, not Nightwing, who met Milly first. And so...

They teamed up to deal with a daytime wraith, earning him a silver coin that meant "you owe me one";

Then that bastard Constantine used a djinn to trap them in a demon's lair, and three absurd wishes led them into even more adventures;

After that, he rescued a runaway boy, and she confided in him one late night about being sold by her own family;

He tried to fight corruption in the system, but she used a sign to make a criminal confess in public, telling him, "This is how witchers do it."

After working together time and again, the vigilante fell hopelessly in love with this conflicted witcher, with her sharp edges and the tenderness beneath all her scars...

Until she became entangled in the Horsemen of the Apocalypse's plot, staining her hands with sins that could never be washed clean in the name of a "necessary sacrifice."

Gotham became a plague-ridden hell, and she stood before him, green eyes brimming with shattered despair, and said:

"Dick, I can't love you in the dark."

"I respect your choice, Milly. But I never agreed that this was the end."

The world descended into chaos, and hope dwindled. He lost her trail and nearly lost his city, too.

But Nightwing never gives up. Even if he has to save two things at once: his city, and the woman he loves, who has resolved to die to atone for her sins.

Reader's Guide / Content Warnings:

1. Third-person narration. The heroine is a witcher from The Witcher 3. She's incredibly charismatic and powerful, and a good person, but her goodness is more witcher-like than heroic. This isn't just a romance; the plot is the main event.

2. Warning: she's a witcher, so, well, her love life is... complicated. Same goes for Wing. They're both strong, adult partners with extensive pasts, which won't be described in detail. Read with caution if that's a concern. You've come for Nightwing x Witcher, so cut me some slack. As I said in the author's notes, if it's not for you, no need to tell me. Maybe we'll meet again another time.

3. More comments are welcome, especially if you have intel on Wing. The timeline mainly draws on Nightwing Volumes 2, 3, and 4, Grayson, The Witcher 3 game, and Gotham Knights. There are a lot of Nightwing comics, and they often contradict one another. If something doesn't match what you know, consider it an author-created detail. I'll note where some details come from, but I may not always have time if I'm writing as I go.
